TA6 – EMC UV CABLE
Design & Specifications
The TA6 series is a “flexible cable with multi-stranded conductors, with a cross-linked XLPE polyethylene insulation, double screening element (foil + tinned-copper braid), with a UV-resistant outer sheath made of a special PVC.”
Key specs include:
- Operating voltage 0.6/1 kV, test voltage ~2.5 kV.
- Temperature rating from −40°C up to +90°C.
- Conductor insulation: XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene), offering improved current-carrying capacity and lower capacitance compared to PVC insulation.
- The outer sheath is transparent/clear orange UV-stabilised PVC, enabling visual inspection of the braid/screen and offering UV resistance for more exposed installations.
- The conductor construction, in many versions, is 3 + 3PE (three power cores plus three earth/ground cores), arranged symmetrically at 120°, which helps maintain voltage symmetry at the motor terminals and addresses EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) concerns.
- Screening: an electrostatic screen (polyester tape + aluminium foil) plus a second screen (tinned copper braid) to deliver EMC performance.
- Sizes range from ~1.5 mm² up to 300 mm² in cross-section.
Application & Strengths
The TA6 is specifically intended for motor-power supply from variable-frequency drives (VFDs), where the drive produces switching pulses and high-frequency components that require a cable with good EMC performance. Because of its robust design (XLPE insulation, double screening, UV-resistant sheath), it is suitable for both fixed installations and movable connections in industrial equipment, process lines, and machines, in dry or damp rooms.
The transparent orange sheath is more than cosmetic: the visible braid helps quality inspection and identification of whether the screen is intact—important for EMC compliance. Also, the UV-stable outer sheath lets it be used in more exposed installations (though still industrial) where sunlight or UV might degrade cheaper cables.
