Innovative Power Distribution Technology to Support Data Center Infrastructure Transformation

ABB’s data center portfolio addresses critical industry challenges: ensuring maximum availability, meeting scalability demands within space constraints, maintaining global supply capacity, and reducing carbon footprint. One of the cornerstones of ABB’s data center offering is MNS Low Voltage Switchgear. Through the innovation technology serving data centers, ABB has successfully deployed more than 54,000 MNS panels in data centers across the global IEC market since 2020, with dominant presence in Asia Pacific region where almost two-thirds of this volume have been supplied.

Data Center-Specific Innovations
Data center operators must manage a range of competing demands. They require a reliable and efficient power distribution systems that optimise the physical footprint while ensuring maximum availability. With the exponential growth of data processing facilities, the industry demands innovative solutions that deliver performance without compromise. ABB offers highly customisable low voltage switchgear using the MNS system tailored for data center applications. ABB’s MNS PowerCenter and MNS Compact represent the future of data center power distribution through innovative design, digital intelligence, and unwavering commitment to safety and reliability. These technologies enable data centers to optimise operations, reduce footprint, and ensure sustainable, efficient performance.

MNS PowerCenter: High-Density and safe Performance in MSB offering
The MNS PowerCenter offers ideal solution for primary and catcher main switchboard supplying IT and mechanical loads. Built on MNS platform featuring safety, modular, flexible designs supporting front/rear access, withdrawable, plug-in, and fixed configurations, MNS PowerCenter takes space optimisation further, enabling up to 65% footprint reduction through high-density assembly.

Utilising ABB’s proven Emax 3 and Tmax XT circuit breakers, PowerCenter supports two Emax3 ACB solutions in a single section, maximising section utilisation while maintaining the highest
safety standards.

Key features include reduced outgoing section width with shared cable compartments, duplex main busbar options for reduced depth, and Forms of Separation up to Form 4b. Like all MNS solutions, PowerCenter is arc fault containment tested to IEC TR 61641 Class C and fully in line with AS61439, ensuring maximum safety.
